Who We Are
Our Legacy of Leadership and Impact
We are The Junior League of San Diego, and our mission centers on three vital goals: developing the potential of women, promoting effective voluntarism, and significantly improving San Diego communities. Since 1929, we have achieved this mission through the strategic action and empowered leadership of every trained volunteer within our membership. We believe that effectively trained women become essential forces for good in the civic life of our city. We provide the training, tools, and opportunities necessary to make that critical transformation happen.
A History of Meaningful Action
For over 90 years, our members have proudly confronted San Diego’s most pressing social issues. We have consistently tackled the toughest community problems by creating and supporting vital, long-standing organizations. This strategic engagement has given Junior League of San Diego a legacy of reform and civic achievement unlike any other. We are proud of our deep roots in the city, and we continue to build upon this powerful, impactful foundation today, always striving to shape history rather than simply react to it.
Agents of Positive Change
Today’s world is complex, and critical challenges persist, causing problems which loom large across our community. That is why we cultivate a powerful network of women who act as skilled agents of positive change. Our robust and diverse training curriculum equips our members with essential skills, from boardroom preparedness and grant writing to the collaborative techniques necessary for leading major initiatives. We use this collective expertise to find sustainable solutions, launch effective programs, and advocate passionately for those in need.
In fact, our trained volunteers tackle the community’s most critical issues, and we often see our members go on to serve as high-impact Board members and executive leaders for countless other organizations. Preparing women to serve their communities is The Junior League’s enduring mission. We know tomorrow will bring new issues and challenges, but the women of The Junior League will continue to serve as the undeterred voices for action, justice, and lasting change.
The Junior League of San Diego is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. All of our programs and activities are supported by League membership dues, foundation and corporate grants, and other revenue-producing efforts.
