The Junior League is a Highly Respected Organization with an Extraordinary Legacy. Our league, Junior League of San Diego (JLSD), is very proud of that historic reputation, but as society changes, we adapt and evolve. We strive to put our venerable values to work in modern ways; demonstrating our pride and perpetuating our legacy by serving as a powerful voice for action, justice, and change throughout San Diego. Together, we are working to empower our members by training our volunteers with invaluable learning opportunities, ranging from leadership and organizational development training to community program instruction and nonprofit fundraising skills.

Women are invited to join at any stage of life if they have the willingness to serve the communities and develop their own leadership potential through JLSD. Our Members are doctors, lawyers, moms, teachers, Active Duty service members, Veterans, grandmothers, first-generation Americans, entrepreneurs, students, retirees, and everything in between.

Welcome to the Junior League of San Diego, our League year kicks off on July 1st and runs through June 30.

We are currently not accepting new applications until February 2026, however we would love to hear from you at any time. The best way to stay updated is to fill out our interest form. Membership Eligibility:

Any woman is invited to join who meets the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age by the beginning of your New Member year to apply (there is no maximum age to join!)
  • You must reside within San Diego County no later than one week prior to the date of the New Member Orientation (held in August)
  • You must exhibit an interest in the San Diego community and commit to the fulfillment of all requirements and attendance obligations of the New Member Training Program

Please keep in mind that we accept Membership Applications until the incoming class reaches full capacity. 

Application

If you are eager to join the Junior League of San Diego, we recommend beginning your application as soon as it is open in the new year.  The Application link, once available, will first take you to our Interest form where you will enter your basic information. After submission of the Intake form, you will receive an email to set up a Junior League log-in username and password. Once set up, you will complete a quick Application and be directed to pay New Member dues ($295).  After payment, you will receive a confirmation that you are a member in the next year’s New Member class!

New Member Training Program Overview

The Junior League of San Diego’s New Member Training Program will provide an introduction to our mission, development opportunities, formal trainings, focus area, community outreach projects, and fund development initiatives, as well as the structure and culture of JLSD and the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). 

The training course begins with a New Member Training Orientation in early  August.  Monthly Trainings will continue through December with various opportunities to socialize in between.  In January 2027, our New Members are then placed onto a JLSD committee with our Active members to put their training to work.  New Members who have completed all course requirements will become Active members of the Junior League of San Diego
